Catching Up

I can not think of much I enjoy more than a good audiobook. It is the only thing that will motivate me everytime. When the chores get behind I will use a book to stay on task all day and catch up (or all week, as needed =)). Today I dusted off How To Win Friends and Influence People. I was not blessed with patience, good manners, or any form of self-control (that sounds worse than I mean it to). So I have been a victim of reading "self-help" books. Most are a waste of time, but this one is like a bible of common sense and I enjoy it. I am happy that I have managed to apply much of it already. And it is only typical that I still have gobs to learn. So for now, I am using it to focus on laundry, recycling, and floors. Anything is enjoyable with a good audiobook. Peace

Reflection before the new year

It is amazing to me how much our family has changed in the last year. And, if we look back two years the changes are even more obvious. Together, we have faced some very dismal years that followed even worse years. It is nice to be looking back at those times and seeing that we have grown. I know that this next year will bring more learning and change. But, I am most excited about where the changes we've already made will take us. I know the foods we have learned to love will continue to reward us with increasing energy and health, so it should be fun to find uses for the energy. And, getting better looking is nothing to scoff. And, we are excited about the things we get to do now with the kids. Homeschooling should only get more fun, now that we've gotten into the swing of it. Jewel and Trevor are leaving exciting ages, only to enter exciting ages. The short story is, no need for resolutions; how can we even predict what we will need to face and how can we imagine improving this. Here's to a year of laughing, loving, and learning.
